ABSORBENCY
Moonpad are surprisingly absorbent for how thin they are. I would say i have a medium flow, and i can wear a regular pad for about half a day with no leakage.

ORGANIC COTTON
All of my organic cotton is grown in the usa and milled in the usa by union workers. this is incredibly local for fabric- most is made in turkey or china, under unknown working conditions.

using organic cotton is a great bang for your "buy organic" buck- cotton is one of the most chemically intensive crops out there. according to the organic consumer's association- "although the global inorganic cotton crop accounts for only 2.5 per cent of land, it accounts for 10 per cent of pesticides used and 22 per cent of insecticides." for more info on organic cotton check out the OCA's info page at:

I believe it's immoral to charge more for organic just because it's organic- so here in my shop and in my retail stores, i literally charge what it costs me to make organic pads. Organics are a right, not a luxury!

DYEING
All of my organic cotton is hand dyed by me using procion dyes. this is the safest dye i could find- it's recommended for baby clothing and for the chemically sensitive. it creates a chemical bond with the fabric, so there are no chemical residues to get into your body. this also makes it very colorfast. way better than rit!! it is also the standard for the industry- chances are the cotton lining in your underwear was dyed with procion! since i control the dye process, i know that a) the effluent goes into my city's sewer system, where it can be safely processed. who knows what happens to the effluent when fabric is dyed in china? it could go right into the streams! b) no workers are harmed- the dye in its powder form is not good to breathe- i use a very well ventilated space.
